 As luck would have it… We discovered Shelties when we purchased our first Sheltie in 1987 from Joyce Woolridge of Shadland Shelties. Amazingly, this one meeting… this one acquisition… had us hooked. Shown above is Ch. Keystone Captivation "Delaney"How we really began...Our love of Shelties really began in the early 80’s with a fabulous Sheltie cross named Tramp. Abandoned at the SPCA, he was a loyal friend and great puppy socializer.1987 brought “Sara” Shadland This Blue’s For You, CDX into our household. Joyce Woolridge of Shadland Shelties offered us Sara, the last daughter out of Ch. Banchory Midnight Melody. Sara won us over with her intelligence and willingness to please. Of course her “Princess” approach to life endeared her to us even more. Within the year we had our second blue-merle Shadland Beyond A Shadow, CD who was an Am.Can.Ch. Sienna Catch A Dream son. We spent several years successfully competing in obedience while at the same time showing Shelties in the conformation ring for many of our friends.Our interest in Shelties and conformation showing was rejuvenated in 1999 when Ch. Shadland Tremolo Bi The Book joined the household. The addition of “Paige” was the extra push needed to refocus our energies back into Shelties by challenging ourselves to become more involved and contribute to the breed wherever possible. Through all this, Joyce continues to provide us expert mentorship, encouragement and friendship as we grow. Her guidance has been priceless, her friendship precious and has provided us with opportunity we otherwise may not have had.Our dogs are our family. If they’re not playing in the yard, they are inside trying to decide exactly who gets to sleep on what end of the couch. We of course have to make other sitting arrangements for ourselves to accommodate them. That’s as it should be. Cathy is currently the President, Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association and Secretary, Alberta Shetland Sheepdog and Collie Association. Cindy is also an active member of both clubs. Keystone Shelties is located on 5 acres in the beautiful foothills of the Alberta Rocky Mountains near the town of High River. We ship out of Calgary International Airport. |
